Choosing Mindsets: A Day in the Life of Your Inner Crew
Ever feel like you're hosting a party in your head? Welcome to the club! As a coach, I've helped clients navigate their inner voices, and intentionally choose which mindset, or “brain-set” to use, at each different moment.
Today I decided to walk the talk, and write a blog about it so I could practice what I preach, and you could see how that works. I started by choosing only three mindsets for today. Small steps work for a long way. Under promise and over deliver is the motto to build confidence.
Here is what I’ve decided to go for the day -
1. The Sociable (AKA The Collaborator)
This one's my go-to for new social situations. It's like slipping on a comfy sweater – familiar and warm. But watch out! Too much people-pleasing can leave your inner rebel grumbling. The trick? Find that sweet spot where you're connecting with others while staying true to yourself.
2. The Organizer (with a side of Creativity)
Time to channel your inner Executive Manager! But don't worry, we're not talking color-coded binders here. A loose structure can actually boost creativity. Set aside time for planning, then let your imagination run wild in the spaces between.
3. The Coach
This is where the magic happens. It's all about creating space, listening deeply, and embracing the unknown. Sure, letting go of control can be scary, but the results? Mind-blowing.
The Big Picture
By making a choice, One could develop the meta-view more easily, and by making a choice which part of you you want to use, is an effective Subject to Objective shift, and you will stay more on the ‘highway’ or more Creative way rather than slipping into the reactive mode.
At the end of the day, I feel more in control, fulfilled, and accepting. And, it becomes the source of creativity too. By choosing, reviewing and stay objective, my perspective expanded and deepened. As the result, I gain more joy at the end of the day, feeling that I’ve done the hard work, and I could really relax and have fun, enjoying dinner with my family, totally be present with them.
Remember: Build your toolkit when times are good. That way, when life throws you a curveball (hello, unexpected work trip!), you've got the resilience to power through.
Your Turn
What mindsets are you rocking today? How do they align with your goals? Most importantly, how can they help you live more intentionally?
Let's get that inner party started – your future self will thank you!
